I used to work at KSQY radio in Deadwood back when it was the powerhouse station of the hills...Jack and Tom in the a.m., Jeff Michaels, Betty Korvan, Jim Kallas, Cary Fries, Steve Wilson, Da Fridge, Kim Hubbard...man I miss all those guys. What a gre at place to work! Too bad management didn't think the talent was worth paying. Free CD's only go so far. Anyone out there who remembers the old KSQY drop me a line and we'll swap stories. See ya at Sturgis '98!

Your web page is pretty nice, But you really should have more pictures of the town and it's surroundings in it. I was born and lived in Deadwood for 23 years and know how nice the area is and think more pics of it would help you sell the town alot better on this particular site.

I need the name of a Black Hills city that was in existance prior to 1870. This is for a book I'm writing. Thought Deadwood would make the cut, but I note that it did not come into being until gold was discovered in 1876. Any Help?

As a former resident, leaving Deadwood was one of the toughest things I've ever done. Being in radio, it sometimes takes you to new places and faces. Such was the case in my arrival to Deadwood - and my departure. I programmed "K-SKY" Deadwood's only F M station. I wanted to live there forever. However, with bad management at KSQY-FM, I had to leave Deadwood in September, 1996. I haven't been back since - I'm just waiting for the day that KSQY-FM is sold to some good owners so I may return and work and live in the Black Hills once again! I miss it!

In 1985 we took a cross-country trip (6000 miles in 2 weeks) with specific destinations in mind (Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, etc.) We didn't stop for anything that was already planned. I remember seeing the exit for Deadwood, was dying to stop but "d idn't have time." Last year we made a special trip to Deadwood, loved it and will be back again this September. Can't wait.

My husband and I visited Deadwood in June 1997. We stayed at the Bullock extension house. It was a beautiful hotel. Since I read "historical novels" and "biographies", I already knew about some of the famous past residents, and even some of the curr ent ones. In looking at the town and the physical geography, it isn't hard to picture the wild, wild west of the early years. Julianne 0:)

Visited the Black Hills several times as a child with the family. Stayed in several campgrounds and once in a cabin near Custer. I will be attending my first Sturgis Rally this year and am very excited and depressed at the same time. Excited about returning to the Black Hills, but depressed that I sold my Electra Glide last year so will be doing Sturgis by car. Oh well, at least I'll be there. Did Daytona the same way in 1991. What a BLAST. Looking forward to exploring all the sites and sounds of the Black Hills and Sturgis. I sell motorcycles for a living and am the envy of all my co-workers, gotta get t-shirts for them. (Next year by motorcycle!!) See you there!!!

I was in Deadwood in July 1995. I had a great time and enjoyed the increadible attractions in and around Deadwood. Like The Badlands National Park, all the Caves, Mount Rushmore, the history of Deadwood City with Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane, the theatre stage show, and the Casinos to only mention a few. I will be returning this June (1997) with a couple friends so they can see the beauty of the Black Hills and the area. At the same time learn some history. Thanks Yours Truly R.K. Berger

I was born in Deadwood in 1949. My parents moved to California in 1952. I hadn't visited Deadwood since the early 60's until the summer of 1995. I kept telling my husband and sons they won't believe how beautiful the Black Hills are and most of al l how blue the sky is. Deadwood, you didn't let me down. I LOVE YOU. Looking forward to a return visit.

I grew up in the Lead/Deadwood area between the ages of 8 and 20. Many of the best times of my life happened in these small towns. I returned for a visit in 1995, after being gone for 8 years. I wanted to show my family where I grew up and where my old est daughter was born. They loved the area but the small town that I call home had changed so much. I was saddened and somewhat disappointed. I felt like my childhood was gone. But my memories are forever and with progress comes change. It is still beauti ful and we will be back for the Rally in 97. Hope to some old familiar faces.

I was fortunate enough to have lived in Deadwood from February of 1995 to September of '96. I programmed the local rock station in Deadwood which is located right on Main Street in the heart of town. Never in my life have I lived in such a different co mmunity with such interesting, wonderful people. That is another reason Deadwood is so special. I miss it and the Black Hills terribly, and hope to someday return to Deadwood. P.S.-Stop in and say "Hi" to Jeff Snedeker at the Pony Hills Coffee Shop on Mai n St. & Lee St.

My first visit to Deadwood was in 1992 and couldn't wait to go back. In 1996, I was lucky enough to visit twice, once in May and then for a week (stayed at the Iron Horse Inn) in October. Loved it - loved it!! Had my first "close encounter" with the buffalo in Custer State Park and saw more wild life (outside and in-) than I had in quite a long time! Can't wait to go back.
