I love coming to your town, But this past Weekend ( July 2nd 2000 to be precise ) We we're there, Along with a friend that lives in Hill City, My complaint is, We both drove to Deadwood Because we we're leaving to come back to Minn. and felt there was no reason to drive back to Hill City then drive to Minnesota. We parked on the side of the Silverado casino which I didn't see that it was a loading zone because there is a Big Yellow container there blocking the sign, Well you guess it I got a ticket for parking in a loading zone but what puzzles me is, Our friend who lives in South Dakota did not get one and he was there just as long as we were, Strange don't you think?

I guess the previous guy has never been to Helena, Ok. He'd really understand what a gem South Dakota is if he had. Oh well, he probably still watches black and white t.v. and thinks his 8 track tapes "RULE". Get a life, Bubb. Realize what is important and be glad that South Dakotans have a sense of humour or they would of never allowed you into their great state. The Black Hills Rocks!!!! (No pun intended!)

HALTOM CITY, TX USA -
I found this lovely site in the Memphis Commercial Appeal in TN. I was born here (1956) from parents who grew up in Pierre, S Dak.Every year of my young life we packed into the car to go from here to the Hills. Deadood a MUST, especially for kids! I think we were just raised right. Boy, there's some trivia questions folks couldn't get if they haven't been there, am I right? In 1986 my dad got an RV & packed lessee- there was Mom & Dad, their little dog, me, my husband, brother, sister & her hubby, my 5 yr old son & I was 6mos preganant with my 2nd son - I insist he notice that he is in the picture at the "Rocky Faces" even though he was in my tummy. My Grandmother referred to the "pilgrims" with some disdain, but we were family. Point is - pilgrims really should consider visiting our heritage in the Deadwood area. You won't be sorry. I was happy to let my hubby in on what the Hills have & the sunrise out there is - well, unique!!!!! Don't Miss: In August the Perseid Meteor Shower is something not to be missed in the Black Hills. Worth staying up all night. It is truly God's country & Deadwood still had the history & not just tourist trap-pilgrim stuff going. Love the remark about yuppies going up there. Grammy would've loved that. S Dak people are known for having an opinion. It's my heritage, too. Hope this wasn't too long. Y'all find your campsites - they are there. Deadwood awaits. Holly

We are planning our vacation in early July to visit your town, we were there 8 years ago,but have have always wanted to come back. We are looking forward to seeing how things have changed and to visit the places we did not get a chance to visit last time. However, this time, this is a celebration visit, as my sister has beaten the Big "C" and we are celebrating by taking a trip back to Deadwood. See you in July, we will be staying at the First Gold Hotel. This was one of the few hotels that are handicapped accessibly. That was the price my sister had to pay to beat the "big c", she lost her leg. But we are really looking forward to our stay.

Hi, If you come to the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota regularly, you might want to consider buying a seasonal home here. I am not a realtor, but a friend of mine is trying to sell his home in Lead. He has completely remodeled the two bedroom home with a new kitchen, bath, floor coverings, ceiling fans, and newly painted walls. The house is on the sunny side of the hill, has easy access and good parking. All this for a price in the low $30,000.s Just thought it would be a good idea to 'get the word out' on a deal like this. If you have an interest, call Dean at (605) 584 2435.

Visited in May 1999. One of the best vacations I've taken in years. Casinos were wonderful, personnel helpful, whole town was great. Everywhere we went were treated like valued customers. Visited Rushmore, Custer Park also. Only downside is that it was expensive--air, hotel, rental car--but I understand packages will be available. Will definitely visit again. My heart belongs to Las Vegas, but Deadwood beats Reno & Native American casinos handsdown.

The excitement we incur each and every time we set foot in your hallowed town is more then words can justify.Together we have visited at least a dozen times and Judy (who doubles as a tour guide)has been there perhaps forty times. Believe me its a dream come to life for a plainsman like my- self who grew up with Wild Bill , Col.Custer and the 7th.etc. etc. Thank you and keep up the great work. P.S.-We do miss Charley Utter days.
